Judo is fun
and tiring... but fun nonetheless!
earthquake
whoooooooooooooooooo
ikea
ikea has a ticket vending machine for hotdog and drink tickets. then there's the shopping cart parking spot in front of the bathroom.
apart from that there's now way to tell your actually in japan, although the amount of japanese people and writing are probably some kind of giveaway!
getting there, getting there
i like the list in the last post, so let's have some more of that:
- i went to the ward office, twice! i'll have to go a third time to get my alien registration card!
- we had a welcome party in our dorm, i now know a lot more people than a few days ago
- there was an orientation at the mita campus of keio university, 180 people attended
- i have a student id and a student commuter pass, the commuter pass gives a discount of like 700yen on a price of 29'500yen it costs for half a year...
- there has been a lot more train riding involved
- we had a language placement test. to relax afterwards we went to ginza to check out the new h&m store that opened there, it's the first in japan as far as i'm informed. the waiting time to enter the shop was a few hours, people were handing out water and umbrellas to the customers standing in the crazy heat outside! we went to uniqlo instead.
- i've bin to yokohama for the first time in my live and rode the big wheel that stands in the port area
- i've been introduced to the keio judo team, if everything works out i'm going to start training with them next week, as there's vacation just now.
- 30 minutes ago i brewed real coffee on my own for the first time on my new coffeemaker thingy!
- it tasted not all that bad
- for some reason i'm kinda busy most of the time, limiting my motivation to write this...
- going to do other things now!
some kind of writeup
* my feet are broken, not in the broken bone kind of broken, but in the what happened to all the skin that should be there kind of broken. leads to funny walking styles. those lead to muscular problems in the legs, which again leads to forced normal walking. which leads to even less skin on my feet.
daily judo practice doesn't help one bit!
* trains are extremely difficult to get right, luckily they're not expensive. i'm a train riding expert now!
* there's no jetlag anymore, but this timezone is somewhat broken, id's dark at 6 and light at 5. i'm fast awake at 5 every day
* 30C and a humidity of 80% are no laughing matter
* washing machines with cold water only don't help getting stuff clean
* in this country my name isn't important address wise, but my flat number is! it's 306, so please instead of my name put "Plume IS 306" on anything your going to send me...
* at the kodokan i also had room 306, if i'm going to see that number more often, i'll start getting suspicious
* please send me stuff, i have a letterbox now!
* there's a somewhat more coherent telling of what's going on here...
gone again
but somehow i feel back... tokyo is good for your soul!
