ぼくはくま - i am a bear

it came clear to me, when thinking about my newly acquired sleeping habits: my system is working hard to convince me, that it's time for hibernation.

first of all, i never was one to sleep normally: during my youth i had some real issues with falling asleep, meaning it was nay impossible to do so. lying awake for hours and hours, the hours becoming nights. getting up in the morning, without having slept, or with only having slept the last one or two hours before getting up again. even today it still happens that i spend whole nights awake, but it has become more seldom...

but now it seems i turned into a bear. these days i spend easily twelve hours a day sleeping, sometimes even more. a very interesting habit. even though my job actually lets me do so, it's become quite a bother. getting up at four in the afternoon, i can just watch the sun set, starting to miss daylight by now.

and still i can't force myself out of bed earlier, because i never really wake up enough to do so. and when i finally manage to get up, i feel tired, feel like going to bed again soon afterwards.

right now i'm awake and out of bed since nine hours, but already dead tired. might head to bed soon.

finally if you're wondering, why i wrote the title in japanese: there is actually a song by utada hikaru with this title...

recommended listening - mono: walking cloud and deep red sky, flag fluttered and the sun shined

whew, i'm going to have a hard time to top that title lengthwise.

but now for some content: as you can see, it's a recommended listening again. might do a lot more of those, so better get used to them...

being up late, tired, melancholic and for some reason not quite ready to go to bed, i figured listening to mono might be the ideal thing to do, as it's quite perfect for my momentary mood. and here i am now, recommending it to everybody who feels melancholic at times. and i'm rather sure this is about every human being there is, so go get yourself this nice soundtrack for memories of moments past, missed chances and happier times. listen to it, whenever you feel a bit overwhelmed by the world outside and feel like going far away, back in time or just in hiding somewhere warm and peaceful.

walking cloud and deep red sky, flag fluttered and the sun shined combines classical music instruments like the piano or the violin with some few electronic elements arranged to some peaceful harmonics, repeated over and over, always different, and still somewhat the same.

this album is happiness in its audible form.

recommended listening - 65daysofstatic: the fall of math

my office is rather big. and as i'm only a lowly coder i have to share this nice big office with other lowly coders. working together with many different people has some great advantages, but alas also some disadvantages. one of those disadvantages is, that it's perfectly impossible to find music suiting everyones taste. normally you're considered lucky if you get half the people (plus one) to agree with your choice, because in the democratic system that we live in, this leads to that music being played and listened to.

now in my specific case i consider myself rather unlucky: the music i normally listen to is usually disagreed by most. i even got complaints stating that it's not even music. this is, as i really enjoy listening to the band earning me that specific comment, an affront i can't just ignore. so in defense of said band i write this.

65daysofstatic is named after a movie by John Carpenter, which in the end never was released. that didn't stop the band to produce a great debut album in 2001: the fall of math.

i can only recommend this album to anybody open to some alternative/math rock (same holds true for the second album: one time for all time, but i might just write an entry about that some of these days too). my most favorite track of the album is 'install a beak in the heart that clucks time in arabic'

if after listening to it you either agree or disagree with my coworkers, are one of my coworkers, or just like to post comments: please leave a comment...
